Welcome to January, 2009!
As grade 5 begins the new year, students in English class will examine the simple tenses of verbs (present, past, and future) and finish up our chapter on pronouns.
In social studies, the students will begin to read about Colonial life. We will also continue strenghtening our mapping skills focusing on historical maps.
In math class, the fifth graders are reviewing multiplication facts and multiplying whole numbers by one and two-digit numbers.
In science class, the students are studying igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks and how they form.
In religion, the focus is our Christian tradition of prayer. The students will be introduced to the five different ways Christians pray.
The book character report is due on Thursday, January 22, 2009.
