ATHLETICS

St. Pius V School fields several athletic teams: cross country track, softball, baseball, junior varsity basketball (girls and boys), varsity basketball (girls and boys), junior varsity cheering and varsity cheering.  Tryouts are not necessary for track and cheering.  For the other sports, tryouts are publicized and permission slips are required to attend tryouts.  Each team holds a meeting with the administration, athletic director, coaches, athletes and parents to review the Parent/Student Contract as well as the Code of Conduct for the St. Pius V School Sports Program.  An athletic fee (commensurate with the cost of the individual sport) is charged.  This fee, supplemented by various fund-raising endeavors, provides the needed monies for uniforms, equipment, gym rental, and the sports banquet.  The administration supervises this program through visits to games/practices and frequent conversations with the athletic director and coaches.
