This month in language arts class the seventh grade will be perfecting their use of punctuation and write dialogue for a scene from The Snowman . We will memorize the all-important spelling rule: "I before E except after C or when sounding like long A like in neighbor and weigh". Additionally we will memorize 10 common words that break the rule: neither leisure foreigner seize weird height heifer caffeine Neil kaleidoscope

In religion class we learn about many saints who  have helped proclaim Jesus to the ends of the earth.

In literature we will begin our Drama unit starting Chales Dickens' classic  A Christmas Carol. It may not be December, but the message is timeless!

Seventh grade will be writing their "How-To" essays. Then they will demonstrate their speaking and listening skills when the "how-to" speeches are presented to class.

We will be beginning the short story unit in literature by the end of the month.

November is a time to remember how thankful we are to our veterans, families and most of all our Lord.

I love being at St. Pius. I have been a certified teacher for kindergarten through eighth grade since 1978, and I have really enjoyed  my job as a junior high English teacher for over the past twenty years. It’s a privilege to help prepare seventh and eighth graders for high school. My own two sons and two daughters got a wonderful foundation from St. Pius and now my grandson is following in the family tradition. I feel truly blessed.
