March is fast approaching and grade 5 has begun discussing the season of Lent. They have brainstormed many ways that they can pray, fast, and give alms. They will begin this month learning about colonial life, writing business letters, and preparing for our mass on February 28, 2020. Thank you for your continued support this year, and we hope to see you at mass on Ash Wednesday.
Grade 5 will be learning about US History this year. We start with early civilizations, Native Americans, and continue onto colonial life.
In Language Arts, both fourth and fifth graders will focus on grammar, sentence structure, and various forms of writing. Students in both grades will also have a weekly spelling test on Friday. Spelling words will be given on Mondays and nightly homework in given. Homework is to completed neatly, in cursive, and in pen only. Please visit www.spellingcity.com to help your student study for the tests. They offer free games for your child to enjoy.
We hope to see you at our monthly school liturgies.
Being a teacher has been a dream of mine since I was ten years old. In 1987, I graduated from Salem State University and started my career. I have had the privilege of teaching at St. Pius V school since 2004. Preparing successful learners in a kind and caring environment has always been a goal of mine. I especially love to find creative ways for the students to share their knowledge.
