Callahan-Nelson Computer Lab
Welcome to Technology Class
Our focus is to support classroom learning using technology tools. The curriculum for each grade will build on prior learning. In grades K-2, we will be using innovative software to work on phonics, math, and science skills. The early years will introduce basic skills. As the grade level progresses, projects will be given to increase both the technology skill set of our students as well as the knowledge content. In grades 3-8, projects will be given using the MicroSoft Suite: MSWord, MSPowerPoint, MSExcel, MSAccess, and MSPublisher.
It is wonderful to see the progress from the Kindergarten learning to our 8th graders who will graduate with the knowledge of writing papers, keyboarding, using spreadsheets, building databases, creating presentations and completing a web site.
Mid-January, there will be NWEA MAP testing in the Computer Lab. We will return to our regular class curriculum in February.
We will be starting our next Lego Robotics Mini-Club on January 22, 2018.
Please check the After School Robotics page for more info on this fun and innovative program for learning STEM concepts.
After receiving my MBA from Boston University, I went into the Software Industry as a Project Manager and quickly ended up on the Software Consulting side of the fence. I enjoyed my years and experience gained there. Currently, I work for R&R Consulting and have been teaching at St. Pius V for over 8 years. I LOVE teaching our technology curriculum to our K-8 students. St. Pius V is such a special place. It is great to be a part of a team of such amazing and creative teachers as well as having the privilege of teaching our wonderful students. It is a blessing to be a part of it. My main goals for my students are to share my passion for technology, to help them have a firm foundation in 21st century skills, and to promote a lifelong love of learning.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband, 2 teen-age daughters, and our dogs.
