FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to St. Pius V School!

In Peter's 1st Letter,  Chapter 4 we read, "Each of you has been blessed with one of God's many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others, so use your gift well."    This scripture is reflected daily as St. Pius V School endeavors to inspire each child to grow in the Lord’s gifts.

There are so many signs of God’s generosity and grace upon St. Pius V School!  Each day, the pastoral leaders and parishioners continue to offer their prayers and support of our collective endeavor.   Our parents and teachers work hard and sacrifice in order to encourage each child in the many opportunities for spiritual, academic, and social growth.

In our 73rd year, a team of caring, dedicated, skilled, and professional teachers and administrators are committed to carrying on the tradition of quality Catholic PreK-8 education brought to St. Pius V Parish by the Sisters of St. Joseph.  We are always ready and eager to serve our families in every capacity. Truly, when we work together, we make St. Pius V School a place  to “Learn. Serve. Lead. and Succeed.”

37 Years Experience At School

St. Pius V Parish School has been the center of my professional career since 1983, when I began as teacher in the fourth grade after graduating from Bridgewater State College with a B.S. in Elementary Education.   As a new teacher, I learned from the skillful and dedicated Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston, who founded the school under the authority of St. Pius V Parish in 1945.  Under their leadership and mentoring, I was able to develop basic pedagogy and increasingly appreciate the joy and fulfillment of living out my vocation in a Catholic school. Having earned an M.Ed. in Elementary Education at Salem State and an M.Ed. in School Administration at Emmanuel College, I taught at several grade levels, eventually moving into administration as assistant principal in 1997. Proud to be the first lay principal beginning in 2000, my years in administration have provided me opportunities to continue and advance the exemplary legacy of the Sisters. Together with the Parish Pastoral Team, school advisory board, a skillful administrative team, and talented and professional faculty, the school has maintained a tradition of excellence while updating and expanding its overall program. It is truly a pleasure to work with these dedicated individuals as we endeavor to provide comprehensive and innovative learning experiences for the “whole-child” in the light of God’s redeeming love.  Of course the students, our “raison d’être,” inspire us daily to model for them our school motto, “Do your best, and be kind to others.”
