Happy New Year! First graders will be very busy reading, spelling, writing, practicing math facts, coloring, and making various winter projects that celebrate the month of January. We will be studying the sacrament of Baptism and learning how through Baptism we become members of the Church and follows of Jesus Christ. In Social Studies, this month we learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and why he was such a great leader during the Civil Rights Movement.
I have been teaching at St. Pius V since the late 1990s. I have taught third and first grade. I enjoy teaching first grade now because I help to provide my students with a foundation and love for learning. I graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Philosophy. After graduating I went back to school for Education. I am now a parent of twin boys in the fifth grade here at St. Pius V.
